First Time for Everything

When being a novice in an activity, whether you're new to cooking, dancing, running, etc. it may seem scary, nerve wrecking, and uncomfortable.

However, over time you get the hang of doing the activity and slowly start to understand the basics.

How do the greats, legends, and role models perfect their abilities?

Getting Familiar leads to Devotion

The power of familiarity can make your ability in any activity get you to becoming better.

Just like the basketball legend Kobe Bryant he had to get familiar with the sport of basketball and put in the work in improving his game. It didn't take him one single practice but countless amounts of practices, games, etc. to improve.

It's the same for training. It doesn't take one week of training but endless amounts of hours, days, weeks and even YEARS to master the exercises and movements. That's the definition of devotion.

I've been in the health & wellness scene for as long as a decade and I still continue to learn as I go. Things are hard at first BUT they do get easier because 1) the number of times you're in front of the task and 2) being more familiar with the task. You approach the task like "I've done this before." and so now you can focus on fixing the smaller things that allow you to reach the mastery rank.

Going for Gold

Once you reach this mastery rank, it's now about being obsessive, putting in the work like no one else would, and devoting your life to it.

So get familiar and comfortable with the task at hand, keep trying, be intentional with every choice you make (in any aspect), and you will eventually reach success.

In a Notes App or journal, write down what new activities you struggle in how you will get better at those activities (list how much time you will devote to the task per day or per week).

Then on a scale from 1-10, define how much of a priority it is to you (1 = least important, 10 = most important).

Being on the scale >5 shows that it is significant in your life and that you should place some time towards the task. Keep going and that task will feel part of your routine.
