Finding Your Flow

Have you ever had a workout where everything just clicked? You moved with ease, time flew by, and you felt completely immersed in the moment. That’s the beauty of staying locked in aka flow state—where discipline meets rhythm and training becomes second nature.

Being in flow state isn’t just for elite hybrid athletes or dancers; ideally, anyone can tap into it. The key here is to create a structure that balances challenge and skill while minimizing distractions.

Here’s how;

The Foundation to Your Own Flow State

These are the key things that I suggest you do to create your own flow state:

Set clear goals. Whether that's being able to move better in a specific dance style by a certain deadline or staying consistent with getting X amount of training sessions per week, clarity fuels momentum.

Reduce and eliminate distractions. A focused mind amplifies progress and continues to get the ball rolling. Setting boundaries from things that skew you away from the task that is top priority is essential. Be aware of how much time you spend on social media & things that hinder you from reaching your goals.

Find the sweet spot of your challenge. Too easy, and you’ll be bored; too hard, and frustration kicks in and worse, you might feel incapable. This is where you need to adjust your intensity to stay engaged. Find your sweet spot.

Develop rituals. When clients show up to their sessions, the first thing I do is to have them do their warm-up routine. It's key to help them prepare for their training session for the day each time. Eventually, they are able to remember this warm-up routine on their own and even make it their own which I love. Every session now, they are well-prepared for whatever I throw at them. With that being said I advise you to create your own ritual. This routine doesn't necessarily have to be before a workout. Another way could be your morning rituals or night time rituals. Start your days or end your nights with the same exact routine and you'll begin to look forward to them.
