Stop "Guess"timating & Start Tracking Your Food!

If you were to guess how much calories you consume per day versus tracking your meals, how closely accurate do you think you can be?

Some may have a good gist of what they eat but a whole lot of others not so much. MyFitnessPal, the top ranking nutrition tracking and food logging app, had previously done a survey regarding how accurate do people log their foods.

Unfortunately, the study had shown over the past 2 years since 2022 that most Americans over log the true amount of what they consume with protein and under log the amount they consume with carbs & fat. To be exact, MyFitnessPal states that 88% of people reporting they have "no idea how much protein, fiber, carbs, sugar, and salt they consume daily."

Do you think it's the misinformation that social media sends out or are individuals not doing their homework?

Personally, I believe in tracking your food intake majority of the week because when on days that you go out to eat with friends, significant other, or family etc., those days won't really matter. I'm not considering you to pig out on the days that you don't necessarily track. However, give your body the food that it craves and also nourish it with the nutrients that it needs.

Don't get lazy and STOP "GUESS"TIMATING.

A Quick 'How To' on Reading Nutrition Labels

Before you toss packaged foods in your cart, the first thing that you should be doing is turning it over and reading the nutrition label on the back.

Note: Not listed is the 'Ingredients' but the first on the list of ingredients starts from most of that ingredient to least.

Also, keep in mind to stay away from High Fructose Corn Syrup being within the first 5-10 first listed since this mimics a sugary flavor but is not a true sugar and as well as Hydrogenated Oils since this processes in the body turning into Trans Fat!

Check if it's Verified

Foods that have been verified are more trustworthy than the ones that are not. If there is no verified check mark, match the nutrition labels for accuracy.

Note: MyFitnessPal is free and they typically update their foods since companies slightly change their products yearly

Learn How To Cook at Home

If you're a person that doesn't show up in the kitchen often, that needs to change! At first, you won't be making the best meals yet but you will learn and get better each time you're in the kitchen cooking, cutting, baking, etc. (use youtube for your cutting & cooking techniques).

Also, where I get my inspiration from is from meals that I've eaten in the past and restaurants I've visited. Google is the best option to get the most of those recipes and even healthier ones can be listed!
