Utilizing Apps & Gadgets to Your Advantage

Technology has improved tremendously ever since the turn of the century. Based off of experience, you either know how to use gadgets & devices to support you,

you don't know how and have tech not be used to its full advantage, or right in between. With this week's newsletter, I will provide you apps and gadgets that have

worked for me and more importantly, how they can aid you in becoming productive in your every day routine encompassing health & wellness.

BUT FIRST

Here are a few things to be more mindful on how much often we use these:

Mobile Device/Computer

Previous research states that people's screen time averages around 6.5 to 7 hours/day. This is on average so if you check on your Health App via iPhone (not sure

if Android uses a Health App), you would want to be below or at around average. If you're above this, you may need to start tapering off or set times off of it when

you are able to from work.

Television

Based on this past year, people have increased in signing up for streaming services. Additionally, people average around 3.1 hours/day of streaming. It's important to

keep a set time when watching because even I tend to get carried away with a show or 2 within one night.

What Apps You Must Have

Calendar Apps

I personally use Google Calendar but when you use your preferable calendar, this can set up your day with structure. I used to believe with going with the flow in the

past but with recent changes in my lifestyle (aka running my own business), setting my schedule up ahead of time has made me use my time more wisely and productively.

Reminders or Notes App

Utilizing this app has replaced the physical journal of check-listing things off my to-do list. Keeping it up-to-date with tasks that need to be done before the end of

day have kept me on my toes for a minute.

List your tasks in order just how you go about through your day. Checking one each off your list can make you feel like you make small wins/accomplishments and

make you feel more successful as the day progresses.

Nutrition Tracking Apps

When you track the right amount of macros and calories that your body needs per day, it helps on not going overboard on calories and also gives insight on what you

lack throughout the day. I've been using MyFitnessPal by UnderArmour for almost a decade and it's what has kept me more aware of my diet and helps in quality control

for my body's essential needs in nutrition.

Mindfulness Apps

In this case, people may have stemmed away from using the word "meditation" and have now referred to this as "mindfulness".

I believe that having this is just as essential as your nutrition app because it keeps you grounded and keeps thought traffic sorted out.

Practicing this personally has given me more clarity and has lessened my snappy-ness at times when my stress levels may be high.

You deserve this time within your day so give yourself that time. Preferably 5-10 mins of your day to yourself goes a long way.

Gadgets & Device Tools

Smart Watch/Ring

Something I still have not invested in yet but soon will, these can help track your sleep, your steps per day, calories burned during activities, & so much more.

I highly suggest researching what's best for you as far as preference because this helps you be more aware of your own overall health from various approaches.

Wireless Headphones

High quality headphones have helped me stay within my zone aka flow state for as much times as I can remember.

I've been using my Apple Beats Powerbeats Pro and they have lasted almost 3 years and running!

HyperVolt GO

THE massage gun that can help in some necessary cases. This gadget can be a little pricey but if you know how to utilize this tool properly from more affordable

models, then more power to you! Something that can help with recovery on days that you need it most (don't rely on it too much).

Don't get it twisted!

It's important to be aware of how much things can either support you or be a detriment to your time and health. There are many more apps & gadgets that are out there.

Importantly, you have to take a step back and ask yourself; is this app/device helping me be better and more productive or affect the way I live negatively? The choice is yours.
