What's Scarier; the Fear of Failing or the Fear of Regret from Not Trying?

To be in the spirit of Halloween and since it's coming up closer to the end of this week, I believe that this topic can relate to most people. So what do you feel you're more afraid of??

The fear of failing OR the fear of regret for not trying at all?

Taking the Leap of Faith

I know it can be difficult at times when the decisions you have to make, big or small, has to undergo some sort of risk factor.

For example, you're maybe contemplating on signing up for your first official 5K run, half marathon, or even full marathon and are mad hesitant because 1) you're afraid of the amount of training you have to do with "little to no time" that you have on your schedule or 2) saying 'no' to Friday/Saturday late night activities because you have to do a long run the following morning.

Doubtfully, you may just have this unreal idea that you might fail following the program to a tee and not even complete the run in general.

These all could sound like what can possible happen and you may start out bad but how about this other scenario;

What if you do sign up for your first official run and you follow maybe 2/3 of the training program, you still make time to show up for friends when needed, and you do decently well when you finish the race, not expecting that you had more potential than you realized.

In fact, you've made everything work out and on top of all that, create healthier and better habits for yourself, you're more fit, and you've improved on yourself personally, professionally, spiritually, financially, and socially.

Now, how does that 2nd scenario sound??

Do you think that it sounds too good to be true?

Or does it seem realistic to you?

You won't ever know unless you try and if you never take that leap of faith, the time will come where that fear of regret will come for you.

Just Do It Scared

A quote from Will Smith that I recently heard from in a podcast that just spoke volumes to me.

"If you can't beat the fear, just do it scared."

When you're given an opportunity but you're not sure if things will either go right or wrong, it's all about taking the risk with accepting whatever the outcome is. Because the more you take risks, you lower your fear threshold.

For me personally, I'm always afraid to make decisions in my business. Whether that's trying out new training software, incorporating new training methods with my clients, adding a new expense, and plenty more.

How I lessen my fear is knowing that I'll learn from my mistakes if it turns out to be one. On the other hand, it's a plus if my decision turns out to be a good choice.

So if you're afraid of doing the thing that you're supposed to do, just do it scared.
